Building Climate Resilience Among Indigenous Communities in Simanjiro District

The documentary highlights the impact of the project “Strenghening Capacity of Indigenous Communities to Build Resilience Against Climate Change” implemented by E-MAC Tanzania in Simanjiro District.

Supported by GIZ through the IKI Small Grants Programme, the initiative focuses on strengthening community resilience in drought-prone areas through Climate-Smart Agriculture and sustainable livestock keeping practices.

Through this project:

  • Farmers are adopting conservation farming techniques to improve crop yields while protecting the environment.
  • Livestock keepers are shifting toward keeping fewer but more productive animals, reducing environmental degradation while increasing milk production.
  • Communities are planting fruit and shade trees to enhance nutrition, restore ecosystems, and promote environmental conservation.
  • Schools and local leaders are actively engaged in promoting climate adaptation and sustainability practices.

Voices from beneficiaries, local government officials, extension officers, and community members demonstrate how the project has contributed to improved food security, environmental sustainability, and climate adaptation in Simanjiro District.

This initiative reflects the power of collaboration between local communities, government authorities, and development partners in building long-term resilience against climate change.
