Our project in Simanjiro district, positive action for girls and women is, unfortunately, coming to an end this month. Therefore, our Simanjiro team conducted field visits for a total of one week with the objective to examine the impacts of the performed project.
Several meetings were held with different local actors in order to get a proper understanding of the current situation of FGM and early forced marriage among young girls. But also, to receive analyzed data on numbers of FGM victims and school dropouts due to FGM during the project period. A household survey was done to receive information regarding the communities understanding of FGM and its effects but also about HIV and the importance of getting tested. The team also conducted group discussions at four different primary schools aiming to understand the student’s knowledge of FGM and the following effects.
