As part of its continued commitment to empowering communities and enhancing internal capacity, E-MAC Tanzania successfully conducted a three-day Staff Capacity Building Training on Communication, Presentation, Negotiation, and Advocacy Skills. This intensive training was implemented under the broader framework of the project titled “Supporting Indigenous Communities to Build Resilience Against Climate Change,” funded by IKI/GIZ.

The training, held in Arusha, brought together E-MAC Tanzania staff from different departments working in areas such as environmental conservation, youth and women empowerment, climate resilience, health, and WASH. The goal was to strengthen their ability to effectively engage with communities, government institutions, partners, and other stakeholders through clear communication, collaborative negotiation, and impactful advocacy.
Facilitated by Mr. Kaiza Sakafu from Horizon Nexus Consulting Company, the sessions combined theoretical concepts with real-life case studies and interactive group activities. Staff were taken through essential principles of communication that promote mutual understanding, negotiation strategies that build consensus, and advocacy techniques grounded in evidence, policy frameworks, and local realities.

This training is part of E-MAC Tanzania’s larger strategy to ensure that its personnel are not only technically skilled, but also equipped with soft skills that are critical for driving systems change and influencing policy in the face of climate challenges. It also aligns directly with the organization’s mission to empower marginalized communities for improved well-being through the promotion of sustainable initiatives and networking with partners through inclusive and participatory approaches.
One of the key outcomes of the training was a renewed sense of purpose and unity among staff members, who now feel better prepared to advocate for climate-smart interventions, lead stakeholder dialogues, and represent E-MAC Tanzania’s vision with clarity and confidence. The sessions also provided a platform for team reflection, learning from each other’s experiences, and building a stronger, more aligned institutional culture.

E-MAC Tanzania sincerely appreciates the support of IKI/GIZ for making this capacity-building initiative possible. By investing in its people, the organization reaffirms its commitment to delivering high-impact programs that contribute to climate resilience, social equity, and sustainable development across Tanzania.
